Subject: Eminent Domain Bill Appears Stuck As Kelo Anniversary
Approaches
I heard a story on the news last night about
a town called Hercules, CA. It seems that they had a piece of land that
the town had been wanting to redevolop into a little mall for small locally
owned businesses, but then Wal Mart bought it. In order to block Wal-Mart's
plans to build a store there, the city seized the land under eminent domain
so that they could build their little mini-mall.
They claim that it is the town's best
interest to have a minimall instead of a Wal Mart.
How far will this stuff go?
